Nayagarh: An auto-rickshaw driver died on the spot when unidentified miscreants hurled bombs on him at Rajasunakhala village in Nayagarh district in the morning on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Tulu Barik of Banapur area in Khurda district.
Eyewitnesses said Tulu was standing near Rajasunakhala Medical Chhak in the morning when two unidentified miscreants came in a bike and opened fire at him. But as the bullet missed Tulu, the miscreants hurled a country bomb at him and fled the area.
Soon after the incident, locals informed the police which rushed to the spot and took the body to a government hospital at Rajasunakhala.
Till reports last came in, the family members of the deceased have arrived at the hospital.
The deceased was staying at a rented house in Rajasunakhala, police said.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that the incident was a fallout of land dispute between the deceased and his rivals.
Police in the meanwhile has registered a case and started investigation. Efforts are on to nab the assailants.
