Bhubaneswar: The AYUSH doctors on Monday staged a protest in Bhubaneswar demanding their appointment in government hospitals.
Hundreds of AYUSH doctors under the banner of All-Odisha AYUSH Students’ Association took out a rally from Ram Mandir to Lower PMG Square to draw the attention of the state government towards their demands.
The protesting doctors alleged that the government has not created posts for them nor made any appointment for the last 21 years.
“We have written letters to Health minister and secretary regarding our demands many times. Several rounds of discussions have also been held with government officials in this regard. But no tangible steps have been taken by the government so far,” they said.
Alleging that the government was adopting an indifferent attitude towards them, they demanded appointment of AYUSH doctors by opening more dispensaries soon.
They also threatened to launch indefinite hunger strike in the state capital if the government fails to take any step on their demands.
