Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is all set to roll out the Centre’s Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) in the state together with its own health scheme Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana (GJAY).
Announcing this in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday, Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling said GJAY, which has replaced Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY), along with Ayushman Bharat will provide cashless treatment to patients in over 27,000 empanelled hospitals across the country.
All necessary measures for the implementation of the schemes have been taken, he said, adding that an MoU will also be signed with the Central government for introducing Ayushman Bharat scheme in the state.
Stating that over three crore beneficiaries from around one crore households will get the health cards under the scheme, he said senior citizens aged above 70 years and migrant workers will also be entitled to avail benefits from the new healthcare scheme.
While 67 lakh households will be given health coverage under Ayushman Bharat, the rest 33 lakh families will be enrolled under the state’s GJAY, the Minister said.
Under the new system, men will get health insurance up to Rs five lakh, while the coverage will be double up to Rs ten lakh for women beneficiaries, Mahanling said.
BSKY, which covered around 70 lakh families, did not offer many benefits, while people will have access to optimum health services under Ayushman Bharat scheme, he said.
