Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav: ‘Bijli Utsav’ Organised By REC In Puri

Bhubaneswar: Bijli Utsav was organised at Janakadeipur village in Malatipatpur panchayat of Puri district as part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations.

Organised by REC Limited, a public infrastructure finance company under the Ministry of Power, Puri  MLA Jayant Kumar Sarangi inaugurated the event in the presence of REC, TPCODL officials.

Puri Sadar Block Chairman Dibakar Patra; Malatipatpur sarpanch Mahindra Kumar Mahapatra; Executive Engineer, TPCODL, Siba Prasad Swain; General Manager, NTPC, AK Parhi and Chief Programme Manager, REC, Odisha, Bijay Kumar Mohanty were present.

CPM, REC, Bijay Kumar Mohanty spoke about the challenges faced during electrification in rural areas of the state.

Sarangi highlighted the benefits of electricity and how the quality of life improved with access to power. Several beneficiaries of Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gram Jyoti Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana Saubhagya Yojana shared their experiences.

Various cultural programmes like Odissi and Gotipua dance were organised along with debate and essay competitions among school students. The winners of the competitions were given LED bulbs as prizes.
