Azlan Shah Hockey: India Post 1-1 Draw Against England

Ipoh: The Indian defence stood strong as the Men in blue registered a draw against England in their second pool match at the 27th Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 1-1.

Shilanand Lakra, who hails from Odisha, scored the only goal for India, off a rebound shot in the 14th minute. This is Lakra’s first international goal.

Though India managed to maintain the lead till the fourth quarter-final, Mark Gleghorne’s Penalty Stroke in the 52nd minute meant that the match ended a goal a piece.

Though India earned as many as nine penalty corners, mostly back to back, none of it could be converted.

On Saturday, India had lost against Argentina 2-1 in its opener. India will play face Australia on March 6.
