Jaipur: Baba Ramdev is in trouble again.
An FIR was registered on Sunday against the Yoga guru for allegedly promoting enmity and hurting religious feelings through provocative remarks at a meeting of seers in Rajasthan’s Barmer district, PTI reported.
The FIR was registered at Chauhatan police station based on a complaint by a local resident, informed police officer Pathai Khan.
Baba Ramdev was charged under IPC sections 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence), 295A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) and 298 (uttering, words, etc., with deliberate intent to wound the religious feelings of any person), said Chauhatan police station SHO Bhutaram.
A video went viral on social media in which Ramdev can be heard accusing Muslims of committing terrorist acts and abducting Hindu women. He also claimed that the agenda of Islam and Christianity is to convert people to their respective religions.
“I am not criticising anyone but… some people are obsessed with converting the entire world to Islam and Christianity,” Ramdev said at the meeting of seers on February 2.
This is not the first Ramdev has been booked by police. In July 2021, an FIR was filed against him for spreading false information on allopathy.
In 2016, he got on the wrong side of law by stating that he would have beheaded lakhs of people for not chanting ‘Bharat Mata ki jai’ slogan in Hyderabad.
His company Patanjali Ayurved Ltd was fined Rs 11 lakh on charges of misbranding and misrepresentation of its products.
