Bhubaneswar: Women and Child Development (WCD) minister Prafulla Samal on Wednesday ordered a probe into the incident, where an eight-month-old baby girl was found crying near her mother’s dead body in Kumbhariput village of Koraput district.
The minister has directed officials concerned to ensure that the child receives proper care and the best education. He also requested the home department to conduct an investigation into the matter.
Meanwhile, three teams have been formed by Koraput police to probe the entire matter and nab the accused.
On Tuesday, some locals of Kumbhariput village had spotted the baby girl a few meters away from the woman’s body and informed the police.
The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained. However, police suspected that the woman was murdered.
