Sambalpur: Baby girl ‘Bijayini’, who was rescued from an abandoned borewell in Rengali area of Odisha’s Sambalpur district last month, is going to be discharged from hospital on Thursday.
The baby was undergoing treatment at Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) at Burla for the last one month. The hospital authorities said that the process for the discharge of the baby girl is almost complete. Sources said the baby would be sent to the child home.
The mother of the baby is stated to be mentally unsound. The woman had allegedly thrown the baby into the borewell a few hours hours after the birth.
The baby was rescued from the abandoned well at Laripali under Rengali police limits on December 12. Thereafter, she had been undergoing treatment at VIMSAR in Burla.
Doctors at the healthcare facility had celebrated the naming ceremony of the baby girl by cutting cake and distributing sweets. She was named ‘Bijayini’.
