Bengaluru: From filmstars to politicians and sportspersons, the deadly coronavirus is sparing none.
Badminton legend Prakash Padukone, the father of Bollywood diva Deepika, is the latest celebrity to have tested positive for COVID-19. He had to be hospitalized and is on the road to recovery.
“Prakash, his wife (Ujjala) and younger daughter (Anisha) developed symptoms 10 days ago and got themselves tested… the results came out to be positive,” Vimal Kumar, a close friend of Prakash and director at the Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy, told PTI.
“He is okay now… All his parameters are fine and will hopefully be discharged in 2-3 days. His wife and daughter are at home,” Vimal added.
The 65-year-old Prakash is awaiting the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Padukone was the first Indian to win the prestigious All England Championship title in 1980. A former world No. 1, Prakash also became the first from his country to win a World Championship medal when he bagged bronze in 1983.
