Puri: Marking the end of their stay in Gundicha temple, Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra will return to their own abode in the grand festival known as “Bahuda Yatra” in Odisha’s Puri on Wednesday.
The sibling deities had gone on their annual sojourn, which is celebrated as Rath Yatra, to Gundicha temple , considered their birth place, on June 20. They will be taken in their respective chariots pulled by the devotees to Jagannath temple in Bahuda Yatra.
The local administration and temple management committee have put all arrangements in place for the festival. The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has also released the schedule of the rituals to be performed for the deities.
As per the schedule, Mangala Arati will be performed at 4 am, followed by Mailam at 4.15, Tadapalagi at 4.30, Abakash at 5, Surya Puja at 5.15, Dwarapala Puja at 5.30, Gopala Ballabha, Sakala Dhupa and prasad between 5.45 and 6.45, Senapatalagi from 7 to 11.30 and Mangalaparna at 11.45 am.
Then the three deities would be taken in Bahuda Pahandi (return procession) between 12 noon and 2.30 pm. Chhera Pahanra (sweeping the floor) will be performed on the chariot between 2.30 pm and 3.30 pm. The Charamala Phita and other rituals will be completed by 4 pm and then pulling of chariots will begin.
Like Rath Yatra, the district administration will regulate the traffic movement and crowd control during the Bahuda Yatra which is also expected to be participated by lakhs of devotees. Similarly, all security arrangements have been made for the festival, Puri SP said.
