Puri: Bahuda Yatra of the Triad of Jagannath Temple in Odisha’s Puri began on Tuesday.
The Pahandi of the Lords began after the sevayats performed Mangala Alati, Mailam Lagi, Tadapa Lagi, Rosa Homa, Abakasha, Surjya Puja, Dwarapala Puja, Besha Sesha, Gopala Ballava and Sakala Dhupa, Senapata Lagi and Mangalarpana rituals.
Though the temple administration had scheduled Pahandi between 12 pm and 2.30 pm, the procession of sibling deities concluded at 10 am.
The pulling of the chariots is expected to begin two hours ahead of the schedule after the Chhera Panhara (sweeping of chariot floors) ritual by Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb.
On Monday, Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Chief Administrator Krishan Kumar said the Pahandi of the Lords will begin at 12 pm and conclude at 2.30 pm. This will be followed by Chhera Panhara on three chariots by the Gajapati Maharaja between 2.30 pm and 3.30 pm, Charamala Phita (removal of the wooden ladder from the chariots) and fixing of wooden horses, leading to the pulling of the chariots at 4 pm.
