Bhubaneswar: Odia litterateur Baishnab Charan Samal will be conferred with Kendriya Sahitya Akademi Award 2024 for his book ‘Bhuti Bhakti Bibhuti’.
He has won the award under ‘Essays’ category.
‘Bhuti Bhakti Bibhuti’ has been described as a lofty literary work of Samal and one of his far-stretched interpretation of extended spiritual conceit concerned with universal religious acceptance of Lord Jagannath and the Jagannath consciousness.
Samal will be honoured with an engraved copper plaque, a shawl and an amount of Rs 1 lakh cash at a function to be held on March 8, 2025, at Kamani Auditorium, New Delhi.
In Santali language, Maheswar Soren will receive the Sahitya Akademi award for his work ‘Seched Sawnta Ren Andha Manmi’ in the Play category.
In June, the Sahitya Akademi had announced the names of Manas Ranjan Samal and Sanjay Kumar Panda of Odisha among winners of Kendra Sahitya Akademi Bal Sahitya Puraskar and Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar, respectively.
