Bajaj Finance Employee Hangs Himself To Death; Alleged Abuse And Torture By Seniors In Suicide Note

Bhubaneswar: Bajaj Finance employee Tarun Saxena, 42, hanged himself to death after being “abused” and “mentally tortured” by his seniors for not meeting the recovery targets.

Sharing his plight in a suicide note, Tarun wrote that he had hardly slept and barely eaten anything for nearly 45 days due to mounting work pressure.

“I am very tense about the future. I have lost my ability to think. I am going. Mummy, Papa, I have never asked for anything, but am doing so now. Please get the second floor built so that my family can stay comfortably,” wrote Tarun in his suicide note, as reported by NDTV.

Tarun had locked his wife and children in a room before taking this extreme step. His body was found by his house help.

Holding the seniors at the Bajaj Finance office responsible for Tarun’s death, his cousin Gaurav Saxena revealed that the deceased was humiliated by the regional manager and national manager during a virtual conference a day before his death.

“In the morning, he was mentally tortured by his regional manager and national manager. Abuses were also hurled at him during a conference, which was held virtually. He was quite frustrated since that (Saturday) night, following which he took the extreme step (on Sunday),” alleged Gaurav.

“He was told that in case of non-fulfillment of the target, he would have to pay from his pocket. He was assigned areas like Moth and Talbehat for collection, which are rural,” he added.

Confirming the news, Superintendent of Police Gyanendra Kumar Singh told PTI, “Tarun Saxena was working at Bajaj Finance as an area manager. He committed suicide on Sunday using a dupatta.”

“A suicide note was also recovered from him in which he alleged that he was given a higher target by seniors, and pressure was continuously being mounted on him to achieve the said target,” he added.

However, Bajaj Finance has not yet responded to the allegations.

In July, Anna Sebastian, 26, an employee at Ernst and Young (EY) died due to work pressure.

An HDFC bank employee also died in office and her colleagues alleged that she was under stress because of work.
