Balangir: Vigilance sleuths on Thursday raided the house and office of assistant commercial tax officer (ACTO) Dhirendra Mishra on charges of amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Teams of the anti-corruption department of Sambalpur, Bargarh and Sambalpur conducted simultaneous raids on Mishra’s residence at Mahalaxmi Nagar in the district and seized cash to the tune of Rs 4.71 lakh along with some gold ornaments.
His offices in Balangir and Kantabanji were also searched and documents, including bank passbooks, ATM cards and insurance papers, were verified and seized.
“The raids were conducted following a complaint accusing him of amassing properties worth over Rs 1 crore disproportionate to his known sources of income”, a vigilance officer said.
