Balasore: Vigilance has filed a case against Ranjan Kumar Das, district sub-registrar, Balasore on corruption charges.
According to a release of Vigilance Directorate, Cuttack, its Balasore division had kept a close watch on the movement and activities of Das following reliable information regarding collection of huge cash by him.
Vigilance Officers of the division intercepted him near Sheragada toll plaza while he was going to Puri in a hired private vehicle. During interception, a sum of Rs 2,23,580 was found from the possession of Das, which he could not account for satisfactorily.
Following the interception, his house at native village Bajapur in Kendrapada district and residential rented house at Puri town are being searched, the release stated.
