Islamabad: A Baloch militant group has claimed control of a Pakistan passenger train, with at least a hundred taken hostage, reports claimed. An intense firing was reported on a Peshawa-bound train in Pakistan’s Balochistan province on Tuesday, reported the News 18.
This prompted the provincial government to instruct local authorities t
o take “emergency measures”, reports by the local media in Pakistan claimed.
“There are reports of intense firing at a Jaffar Express [train] going from Quetta to Peshawar,” the Dawn reported, quoting Balochistan government spokesperson, Shahid Rind’s statement. The spokesperson reportedly said the incident could be a possible terror attack.
According to reports, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), a militant separatist group, has claimed responsibility for the attack. The militant group reportedly claimed that they had taken hostages from the train, including security forces.
