Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Tuesday granted conditional bail to BJP leader Jayanarayan Mishra in connection with the Banabira firing case, against two sureties of Rs 50,000 each.
A person was killed while Labour Minister Sushant Singh’s brother Subrat Singh sustained grievous injuries in the firing incident near Banabira village under Sohela block of Bargarh district, ahead of the Bijepur bypoll on February 22.
The HC has also asked Jaynarayan to cooperate in the investigation process and not to leave his native place without the permission of the lower court.
He is currently undergoing treatment at AIIMS, Delhi, for kidney-related ailment.
Earlier on May 15, the BJP leader was granted interim bail on health grounds, about 10 days after being shifted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, from SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, where he had been undergoing treatment since April 24.
Jayanarayan, who was arrested by Padampur police on March 15, was initially admitted to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla on April 22 after he complained of chest pain and was then shifted to Cuttack after his condition deteriorated.
