Banakalagi Ritual Of Sibling Deities To Be Held Today In Puri

Puri: The darshan of the sibling deities will be closed for six hours till 9 pm on Sunday, as the special Banakalagi ritual will be held at Adapa Mandapa of Gundicha temple in Puri.

Different types of natural colours like Hingula, Haritala, Kasturi, Keshar, and the glue of Kaintha will be used to prepare Banaka to decorate the deities. Around 10 Dutta Mohapatra Sevakas will perform the Banakalagi ritual. It will be performed after the completion of the Madhhyanna Dhupa and Dwitiya Bhoga Mandapa rituals.

Earlier on Sunday, Sahana Mela darshan was held from 7 am to 8.30 am.

Notably, the facial colours of the idols are restored during this ritual.
