Dharmagarh: Normal life was hit in six blocks of Dharmagarh sub-division in Odisha’s Kalahandi district on Thursday following a 12-hour dawn-to-dusk bandh called by the Action Committee demanding district status to Dharmagarh.
The bandh was total in Dharmagarh, Junagarh, Koksara, Jaipatna, Golamunda and Kalampur blocks in as all trading establishments, educational institutions, banks and government offices remained closed. Besides, the vehicular movement has also been adversely affected due to the shutdown.
The protesters picketed at several places in these six blocks and staged road blockade on Kalahandi-Raipur National Highway.
Several political parties, local organizations and civil societies have lent their support to the bandh.
Apprehending law and order situation, the district administration has made elaborate security provision with the deployment of police in all sensitive areas.
