Balasore: Unidentified miscreants allegedly looted cash and valuables from a bank in Kamardha area of Odisha’s Balasore district.
The robbery, which took place at a branch of Punjab National Bank at Daruha under the jurisdiction of Kamardha police station late last night, came to light on Monday.
According to sources, the dacoits used a gas cutter and cut the main iron shutter of the bank and broke the locks to enter. The incident could not be captured in CCTV installed near the main gate as the miscreants covered it with a cardboard box.
Employees of the bank noticed in the morning that the main shutter was broken. The amount of valuables and cash stolen is yet to be ascertained.
Following a complaint lodged by the bank authorities, a police team reached the spot and launched an investigation. Police are verifying the video footage of other CCTVs in the area.
