Rayagada: Bansadhara river was flowing close to danger mark due to heavy rain in Odisha’s Rayagada district on Thursday.
According to a report from the office of the Central Water Commission at Gunupur in the district, the water level of Bansadhara at Gunupur had gone up to 83.75 metre. The danger mark of the river at the place stands at 84 metre.
With rain continuing in the upper catchment area of the river, its water level is expected to cross the danger mark at night.
This is for the first time that the river is facing flood this monsoon. Threat to crop in the low laying areas close to the river is apprehended in case of flood.
With the India Meteorological department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar forecasting more rain from September 19, the people of low lying areas remain in a state of panic, the sources said.
