Bhubaneswar: A male bar dancer reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his house in a slum at Chandrasekharpur in the city.
According to reports, Jagannath Mallick (22) was found hanging from the ceiling in his room on Sunday morning.
Police sources said Jagannath of Adarsha Basti had discontinued his studies after matriculation due to financial hardships.
To sustain his family, he worked as a painter and also assisted his elder brother. He also worked as a part-time dancer in a bar.
On Sunday morning, Jagannath told his mother that he was feeling depressed as he was being ignored by his family members and those he had helped. However, his mother consoled him and advised him to do his work.
Soon after taking his breakfast, Jagannath went to his room and hanged himself with a saree of his mother.
Finding her son hanging from the ceiling, the mother shouted for help. At this, her neighbours rushed Jagannath to Capital Hospital where the doctors pronounced him as brought dead.
Meanwhile, the Chandrasekhpur Police have registered an unnatural death case and begun an investigation.
