Bhubaneswar: Owner of a bar and his agent were arrested during a special operation by the police in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday for allegedly harassing girls working for them.
The bar owner has been identified as Shiba Prasad Mallick. His agent Jyoti Prakash Nayak has also been arrested, police sources said.
Six bargirls were also rescued during the operation conducted by a team of the High Efficiency Response (HER), led by Additional Commissioner of Police (ACP) Anjana Tudu.
Acting on a complaint made by the bargirls, the HER team conducted a raid on the bar located in Laxmi Sagar area of the state capital.
It was alleged that the bar owner used to harass the bargirls and forcing them to work for long hours without giving payment. They were allegedly being locked inside rooms whenever they protested, police said.
