Baramati Bids Farewell To Ajit Pawar With Full State Honours



Baramati: Maharashtra deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar was cremated with full state honours here on Thursday, marking the end of an era in the state’s politics. The 66-year-old NCP leader, a towering figure in Maharashtra’s power politics for several decades, died in a tragic plane crash along with four others on

Wednesday.

Reports said thousands, including top leaders from across the political spectrum, attended Ajit ‘Dada’ funeral. Pawar’s mortal remains draped in the national tricolor. Union minister Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, former Union minister and uncle Sharad Pawar, besides and BJP president Nitin Nabin among others attended the NCP chief’s funeral at the Vidya Pratishthan at Baramati, around 100 km from Pune.

Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, deputy CM Eknath Shinde were also present along with Pawar’s wife Sunetra, who is a Rajya Sabha member, and sons Parth and Vijay. Ajit Pawar’s cousin Supriya Sule, Lok nSabha member from Baramati, and NCP working president Praful Patel were also present.
