Bargarh: Popular Ollywood actress Anu Choudhury presented a dance performance for entertainment of King Kansa during Dhanu Yatra in Odisha’s Bargarh town.
During Dhanu Yatra, the world’s largest open-air theatre, Bargarh transforms into Mathura. River Jeera symbolically represents river Yamuna and Ambapali, which is located on the other side of Jeera, turns into Gopapur.
King Kansa rules over Mathura during 11-day Yatra and holds his court at a grand Raj Darbar which has been erected at a height of 42 feet for the people to witness the theatre.
A separate Rang Mahal has also been constructed with glittering lights and festoons for the entertainment of the King. It is in this Rang Mahal that Anu Choudhury presented her dance performance.
Th actress dances to the tune of a Odia film song “Priya re Priaya re”. King Kansa not only enjoyed the dance and expressed his appreciation but also danced with the actress on the stage. Some of the king’s courtiers also shook a leg with the popular actress for a few minutes.
The show was a crowd puller with the crowd swinging to the song and clapping to the performance of both Anu and King Kansa.
The Yatra, which was opened January 15, will continue till January 25.
