Bhubaneswar: Almost entire Odisha continued to boil under heat wave condition with mercury breaching 41 degree Celsius in as many as 14 places across the state.
According to evening bulletin of the regional centre of India Meteorological department (IMD) in Bhubanewar, Baripada remained the hottest place in the state for straight third day as it recorded maximum temperature of 44 degree Celsius.
As many as 8 places in Odisha registered day temperature of 42 degree Celsius or more. Jharsuguda recorded 42.8 degree Celsius, followed by Talcher 42.6 degree, Titlagarh and Boudh 42.5 each, Sambalpur and Balangir 42.2 each, Sonepur and Angul 42.1 each, and Sundargarh 42.
Similarly, Chandbali had maximum temperature of 40.3 degree Celsius, Cuttack 41.2, Keonjhargarh 41.2, Bhawanipatna 41.5 and Rourkela 41.8 degree Celsius.
The IMD has issued yellow warning for next 2 days and forecast that heat wave condition is very likely to occur
at one or two places in Mayurbhanj ,Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul and Jharsuguda for next 24 hours.
Earlier, the IMD tweeted that the intense heatwave sweeping Odisha is likely to ebb after April 15. It has forecast light to moderate rain or thunderstorm activity at one or two places in Khurda, Cuttack and 14 other districts on Sunday. Thunderstorm with lightning is likely at isolated places in Odisha on April 17 and again on April 18, it added.
