Jeypore: While the operation is still on since 36 hours to rescue two JCB operators from under a heap of boulders near B.Singpur forest area under Borrigumma block in Odisha’s Koraput district, the family members of the two trapped operators are in a state of panic.
Though a joint team of Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) and fire brigade officials had begun the rescue operations on Friday morning, they failed in their efforts.
Till reports last came in, the district administration has decided to engage a crane in the rescue work on Saturday.
Police said the two JCB operators identified as Ghanshyam Guru of Deogarh and Sanjay Dash of Athgarh area in Cuttack district were engaged in excavating boulders in the ongoing Telengiri Irrigation project in Bariput village when the hill caved in around 7 pm on Thursday trapping the vehicles along with their drivers.
The villagers said the stone mining operation was on for the last two days.
Borrigumma police are searching for the contractor of DD Construction Ltd.
