Bhubaneswar: Eight Congress councilors, including Barpali NAC chairperson Meena Seth and vice-chairperson Pradyumna Tripathy, joined the ruling BJD at Naveen Niwas here on Sunday.
Six other councilors inducted into the regional party are Achyutananda Panda, Sukhi Behera, Ashwini Parida, Gayatri Rout, Rebati Bhoi and Babita Ran.
Chief Minister and BJD president Naveen Patnaik welcomed them into BJD fold and hoped that their joining will strengthen the party in the days to come.
Seth said she decided to work with the BJD after former MLA late Subal Sahu’s wife Rita Sahu joined the regional party recently.
