Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has warned the bars in Bhubaneswar of stern action for violation of operational rules and regulations.
According to sources, the Excise officials carried out raids on the bars in the city and checked the documents, necessary licence and other papers. Two bars were found to have violated the government rules in their operation and would face stringent action, the sources said.
The Excise department took the step after the owner of a private club in Laxmisagar in the city misbehaved with Sumati Tripathy, Superintendent, Excise, Bhubaneswar while the latter had gone there to conduct a raid with the officials of the department on the night of July 7.
Excise Commissioner Narsingh Bhol told the media that the club owner has been arrested and served with show cause notice. Any bar or club which would be found violating the regulations would face strict action including cancellation of licence, he added.
