Bhubaneswar: Two persons were arrested in Odisha capital on Monday for allegedly procuring illegal arms and ammunition from an ammunition factory outside the state.
The arrested have been identified as Shanu Poddar (21), a native of Jharkhand who is currently pursuing BBA in a city-based college, and Suresh Kumar Panigrahi (24) of Lake Valley-2 near ITER College in the city.
The Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Crime Branch intercepted Poddar and recovered three 7.65 MM Sophisticated Automatic Pistols, five magazines and 24 ammunition with the headstamp ‘K↑F’ supposedly made in Ammunition Factory Kirkee, Pune.
His interrogation revealed that he had procured these from outside the state for Panigrahi.
A case has been registered under Section 25(a) of Arms Act.
