New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has granted Virat Kohli paternity leave. The Team India captain will return home from the tour of Australia after playing the opening day/night Test in Adelaide, BCCI secretary Jay Shah said in a statement on Monday.
The Indian will leave for Australia in the next few days to play three ODIs, three T20 Internationals and four Test matches.
Kohli’s actress wife Anushka Sharma is pregnant and the couple expects their first child in early January.
Ajinkya Rahane will lead India in the last three Tests.
Rohit added to Test squad
The BCCI also announced that Rohit Sharma has been added to the Test squad. The Mumbai Indians captain had initially not been named in the squad as he was nursing a hamstring injury he picked up during the ongoing IPL in the UAE. Rohit played in the last two matches, and is expected to lead MI in the final against Delhi Daredevils on Tuesday.
