Bhubaneswar: Launching an eviction drive in Pokhariput area of Odisha capital, the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) on Wednesday recovered 5,000 square feet of government land from encroachment.
Sources said that the eviction drive was carried out by a special enforcement squad of the BDA in Ananta Vihar Phase – III BDA Housing Project under Airport police station limits amid deployment of police personnel in strength.
The BDA had left an open place inside the housing project area and some people had encroached on the land constructing houses and other structures.
The eviction team demolished 17 asbestos houses, a 70-foot-long boundary wall, and a make-shift house in the presence of senior BDA officials.
Elaborate security arrangements were made during the operation in order to prevent any untoward incident, the sources added.
