Bargarh: Vigilance sleuths on Sunday detained Bijepur BDO Padmanava Samnatray after he was found carrying Rs 3.51 lakh unaccounted cash.
According to sources, the anti-corruption officials of Sonepur, Bargarh and Sambalpur intercepted Samantray’s vehicle at Binika Mahanadi bridge in Sonepur district while he was on his way to Bhubaneswar from Bijepur, this morning.
On searching the vehicle, they found Rs 3.51 lakh in cash. The BDO was then taken to the Vigilance Office, Sonepur, for questioning as he couldn’t give a satisfactory account of the cash.
His houses at Bargarh, Puri, and Bhubaneswar are also being searched.
