Keonjhar: To spread awareness among people about the importance of cleanliness and hygiene, a Block Development Officer (BDO) and Sarpanch swept the road in Odisha’s Keonjhar district.
With the message – “Swacchata Hi Seva”, BDO of Hatadihi Binita Bijayini and Sarpanch of Dhenka Subhasini Shethy launched the awareness programme at the panchayat and advised people to maintain hygiene, use soaps on a regular basis and keep the village clean, sources said.
As the BDO and the Sarpanch went out with brooms to sweep the road, a number of self-help groups and people from different walks of life also joined the drive to emphasise the importance of cleanliness.
The BDO said in her remark that, this exercise was held in line with the ‘Swaccha Bharat Abhiyaan’ to mark the 75 years of India’s Independence. “Today’s activity was conducted to set a target of personal hygiene and cleanliness among individuals,” she added.
