Koraput: The block development officer of Laxmipur in Odisha’s Koraput has been suspended on charges of corruption.
The BDO, Dillip Kumar Pattnaik, has been dismissed from service by the State Revenue and Disaster Management department.
According to a release by the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, the State Vigilance had registered a case against the OAS officer in 2006 during his tenure as Additional Tehsildar of Pipili in Puri district on the allegation of corruption.
On the basis of the case, the Department had placed him under suspension and served a show-cause notice to him.
While Patnaik had moved the Odisha Administrative Tribunal (OAT) and then the Orissa High Court challenging the suspension order, he did not accept the show-cause notice despite the repeated reminder from the Department.
Though Patnaik finally accepted the notice of the Department on December 17 last year, he did not reply. Taking strong exception to his gross dereliction of duty, the Department dismissed him from the service.
