Jeypore: Forest officials have launched a night operation to trap a bear which has been found roaming around Jeypore railway station in Odisha’s Koraput district for the last 3 days.
According to sources, the locals had spotted the bear moving inside the railway station at night for the last two days. After it was again found moving in the airport area of the town, the locals informed the Forest department.
A team of officials from Jeypore forest range launched a search operation to trace the bear on Saturday night but failed in their mission.
Since the bear has been found moving at night, the Forest department has started a night search operation with a team of 30 officials. They have also alerted the people through public address system not to move outside after evening to prevent attack from the bear.
The Forest officials, armed with powerful search lights, nets and other equipment, plan to comb around the station and airport areas at night to trap the bear which has created a panic in the town, the sources said.
