Beer Worth Rs 10 Lakh Destroyed As Truck Container Catches Fire In Odisha’s Balangir

Balangir: Beer worth lakhs of rupees was destroyed as a container truck carrying a consignment of the alcoholic beverage caught fire in Odisha’s Balangir district on Sunday.

As per reports, the truck was carrying the beer cans in crates in the container from Sri City in Andhra Pradesh to a brewery company’s plant at Belapada in the district. When the truck arrived at Salemuduga village under Sindekela police station, the driver found smoke coming out from the container.

Soon after he came out of the vehicle, fire broke out in the container. On being informed, personnel of Fire Services from Balangir went to the spot and extinguished the fire. But the entire consignment of beer worth around Rs 10 lakh was destroyed in the fire.

Later, police reached the spot and started investigation into the matter. Though the cause of the fire has not been ascertained, it is suspected it might have been ignited after the truck came in contact with a live electricity wire hanging low on the way.
