Bhubaneswar: Government officials and visitors were attacked by swarms of honey bees inside state secretariat here on Thursday.
According to available information, the incident took place when a group of adivasis gathered at the secretariat lawn for a photo shoot with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. Soon after their arrival, swarms of bees started attacking them. Some officials of the SC and ST development department, media persons and security personnel present at the spot were also injured in the attack.
It is suspected that the insects came either from nearby flowering plants or the nests built by them.
