Berhampur: Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) has directed the Pantaloons mall in Berhampur of Odisha’s Ganjam district to close down due to non-compliance of the requisite permission.
According to sources, businessman Tribikram Padhi had recently opened the Pantaloons mall in a 3-storey building on Kamapalli-Tata Benz Square Road. But the BeMC termed it unauthorised and issued a show-cause notice.
Padhi, in his reply to the notice issued on Monday last, sought some time to comply. But the BeMC rejected the request.
“The BeMC has strictly directed Padhi to stop operation of the mall in all aspects until he obtains the requisite permission or certificate to operate it. This has been done in the larger interest and safety of the public,” said BeMC Commissioner J Sonal.
