Chennai: Properties worth Rs 100 crore belonging to VK Sasikala, close aide of late Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa, were attached under the Benami Transactions (Prohibition) Act by Income Tax department.
The properties, located on outskirts of Chennai, are spread across 24 acres and were reportedly brought in the 1990s when Jayalalithaa was chief minister.
Income Tax Department had last year attached 65 properties belonging to Sasikala and her associates in Chennai.
Expelled AIADMK leader Sasikala, who served a four-year jail term in Bengaluru following conviction in a Rs 66 corruption case, returned to Tamil Nadu in February this year.
