New Delhi: A team of Income Tax (IT) department visited Robert Vadra’s residence on Monday to record his statement in connection with the benami properties case.
According to officials, Vadra cited COVID-19 restrictions when asked to go to the IT department office. So a team of officials decided to visit the house of Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law, in the capital’s Sukhdev Vihar area.
Vadra’s statement was recorded under the provisions of Prohibition of Benami Property Transactions Act, The Indian Express reported.
IT as well as Enforcement Directorate have been investigating Vadra on charges of possession of undisclosed assets in the UK, under the anti-money laundering law.
Vadra, husband of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing, while Congress has accused BJP of political vendetta.
