Kolkata: Accused of molesting a Raj Bhavan employee, West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose had slammed those resorting to “character assassination” against him by “engineering filthy narratives.”
Now, he has decided to air the relevant CCTV footage for 100 citizens — except West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee and state police — inside Raj Bhavan premises on Thursday.
“Governor CV Ananda Bose has launched a program Sach Ke Saamne in the background of the mischievous and fabricated allegations by the police that Raj Bhavan is not sharing the CCTV footage of an incident which is under the illegal and unconstitutional investigation of the police,” Raj Bhavan Kolkata posted on X on Wednesday evening.
Those who want to view the CCTV footage fully can email their request to – adcrajbhavan@gmail.com or governor-wb@nic.in. They can also call Raj Bhavan PBX at 033-22001641.
Six days ago, a temporary employee of Raj Bhavan accused Bose of molestation on two occasions. Though Governors get immunity from investigation or arrest, Kolkata Police set up an inquiry team to probe the allegations.
Police sought CCTV footage from Raj Bhavan and planned to speak to some Raj Bhavan staff.
However, Bose asked Raj Bhavan staff to ignore the police inquiry citing Article 361 of the Constitution which says that no criminal proceedings can be initiated against the President and the governor of a state as long as they are in office.
