Bhubaneswar: West Bengal Commerce & Industry Minister Partha Chatterjee was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Saturday in connection with an alleged teacher recruitment scam, a day after Rs 20 crore cash was recovered from his “close aide” and actor Arpita Mukherjee.
Arpita was the face of promotional campaigns for Chatterjee’s Durga Puja committee Naktala Udayan Sangha in 2019 and 2020. Besides Bengali films, she has also acted in Odia and Tamil movies.
Making her Ollywood debut in 2008, Arpita has acted in at least seven Odia films so far alongside actors such as Anubhav Mohanty, Sabyasachi Mishra and Varsha Priyadarshini, among others.
She made her Ollywood debut in 2008 in Bande Utkala Janani, whose cast included Sabyasachi Mishra, Siddhanta Mahapatra and Hara Rath, among others.
Arpita played the role of a villain in the 2009 Odia film Prem Rogi, which had Buddhaditya Mohanty, Varsha Priyadarshini, Bobby Mishra, Siddhanta Mahapatra, Sabyasachi Mishra and Pintu Nanda, among others.
She was also cast in the 2010 film Mu Kana Ete Kharap, starring Anubhav Mohanty, Mihir Das, Bijay Mohanty, Smita Mohanty and Harihara Mahapatra.
Other Odia films in which Arpita has acted are Tora Mora Jodi Sundara, Kemiti e Bandhan and Raju Awara.
