Kolkata: Samaresh Das (74), an MLA of West Bengal’s ruling Trinamool Congress, succumbed to COVID-19 at a hospital in Salt Lake early on Monday.
Das, the legislator from Egra constituency in East Midnapore district, had tested COVID-19 positive on July 18.
He is the second Trinamool MLA to die of the virus. In June, three-time MLA and party treasurer Tamonash Ghosh (60) had also succumbed to the disease.
