Balangir: A couple from Bengaluru have adopted the newborn girl who was rescued from a drain in the town in March.
The newborn was found by the locals near the Government Ayurvedic College and Hospital at Tulasi Nagar on March 7. Later, the Childline members admitted her to the Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital.
The baby was under the care and custody of the child welfare committee after her recovery and was named ‘Tulasi’.
Knowing about Tulasi, the childless couple from Bengaluru had applied for her adoption online. Their application was approved after due process of law. Balangir Collector Chanchal Rana handed over the infant to the couple.
The couple, who have no children after 16 years of marriage, are happy to have Tulasi as their daughter.
