Bhubaneswar: An Air India Express flight from Bengaluru to Guwahati made an emergency landing at the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar on Thursday after a passenger reportedly fell ill.
As per airport officials, the flight 174 passengers on board landed at the Bhubaneswar Airport around 4:53 pm after a passenger complained of chest pain mid-air.
The pilot of the aircraft immediately contacted BPIA’s Air Traffic Control (ATC) and sought permission for an emergency landing.
The ailing passenger was immediately attended to by airport medical staff and later shifted to Capital Hospital for further treatment.
After the brief halt following the medical emergency, the flight resumed its onward journey to Guwahati at 5.15 pm, an airport official said.
