Bengaluru: A 24-year-old woman employed in a prominent IT company died after immolating herself.
The deceased, identified as Suhasi Singh, took the drastic step on the night of January 12 at a hotel near Kundalahalli area.
According to police, the woman had complained of harassment by her uncle, who was allegedly blackmailing her with private and intimate videos which was in his possession.
Suhasi used petrol to set herself ablaze after 8 pm in a hotel room.
Police have arrested the prime suspect Praveen Singh, Suhasi’s uncle.
Suhasi set herself on fire after she met her uncle to sort out the matter, Deccan Herald reported.
Police have recovered a pen drive from Praveen’s possession and sent it for forensic analysis.
Further details are expected once the probe reaches its conclusion.
In December, another techie working in Bengaluru committed suicide, albeit for completely different reasons. Atul Subhash ended his life alleging continuous harassment by his wife and her family.
