New Delhi: A woman in Bengaluru will never forget this morning. She woke up to find her friend lying dead beside her in bed. Her throat was slit and the body was drenched in a pool of blood. Only the night before, this friend had confided in her about her marital dispute and told her that she feared for her safety.
Police identified the deceased woman as B Navyashree, a 28-year-old dance instructor and host, who lived with her husband, Kiran, a cab driver, at a rented accommodation in Kengeri Upanagara’s SMV Layout. The couple had been married for three years, but had frequent domestic disputes, police said. The husband was arrested on Wednesday on a murder charge after Navyashree’s friend, Aishwarya, alerted the neighbours and informed the police control room, News18 reported.
Police said Navyashree sent messages to her friends, Aishawarya and Anil, on the morning of August 27 asking to meet them. Navyashree told Aishwarya that she was distressed both at home and outside, and was facing marital disputes.
The two women then met Anil, who encouraged Navyashree to file a complaint against her husband thinking police intervention might help. She also expressed a fear for her safety to her friends, police said.
Later in the night around 11.30 pm, Anil dropped the two women home and they went to bed. In the morning, around 6 am, Aishwarya discovered Navyashree’s body following which she alerted the neighbours and contacted the police.
A murder case was registered under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
