Benjamin Netanyahu Ousted, Naftali Bennett Is New Israel PM

Jerusalem: A contrasting alliance of political parties in Israel ousted the country’s longest-serving prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday. A new government was formed in a seismic shift in the country’s turbulent political scene.

Right-wing Jewish nationalist and former tech millionaire, Naftali Bennett was sworn in as the new Prime Minister of the country on Sunday.

Netanyahu, 71, vowed shortly before his loss in a typically combative style. “If it’s our destiny to be in the opposition, we’ll do so with our heads high until we take down this bad government and return to lead the country our way,” he had said.

A vote on Sunday in the Knesset legislature after weeks of high political drama ended his government with a razor-thin 60-59 majority in the 120-seat chamber.
