Nayagarh: The Block Education Officer (BEO) of Khandapada block of Nayagarh district was caught taking bride in a video which has gone viral recently, triggering resentment among the locals.
In the video, the officer identified as Suresh Kumar Dash, can be seen demanding bribe money from the teachers for clearing their arrears.
“Dash has been demanding 10 percent of the arrear amount for clearance of their pending bills. The problem is prevalent since the last five years. Arrears of those who denied paying the money have been pending since long,” a teacher alleged.
On the other hand, Dash has refuted to the allegations levelled on him.
Basing on the video clip, the district collector has ordered an inquiry into the matter and assured that prompt action will be initiated against the BEO, if found guilty.
